Winter
05:27
|
|||
The air is getting crisp
My breath is a foggy mist
Pinks and purples
Reds and greys
Paint the sky like an angel's face
Falling leaves on the rough city streets
How I love her grace
And I know
That Winter is coming home
Always, I have felt renewed
When she passes through
Shows me life through her eyes
And I see something new
Doesn't waste time fitting in
She makes her own rules
This I know
And Winter is coming home
She turns the pond that we swam in the summer too cold
She freezes over sometimes, then she's harder than stone
But when she warms up to me
She starts to fold
And I love her more than the rest of the seasons I have known
Snow has frosted the town
Moon shines softly on the ground
I've walked through forests at midnight beside her
Silently speaking
She is with me when I am awake
And when I am sleeping
This I know
And Winter is coming home
She turns the pond that we swam in the summer too cold
She freezes over sometimes, then she's harder than stone
But when she warms up to me
She starts to fold
And I love her more than the rest of the seasons I have known
And Winter is coming home

Spring
03:42
|
|||
Child of the sun
A cousin to the moon
Daughter of the earth
She brings color to the trees
And fills out all its leaves
She melts the frozen stream
Honeysuckle sap
And wild berries grow
She talks with the bees
Who fill her hands with honey
She is where she wants to be
White has melted into green
This is why they call her "Spring"
Waking the frozen ground
Shaking the snow from the trees
Warming the air around
Second chances come with Spring
Dances in the rain
Splashes in the mud
Sings a song with bluejays and robins
She shares much in common
She's naturally honest

Summer
05:45
|
|||
Heat arrived in town the morning spring had left
And while I slept the day grew hotter
Crabs crawled out from shells in the water
Summer stood out like a nail that catches at your skin
Porcelain on the outside, but she's dark within
When I woke, I went down to the ocean front
Planks of wood heaved and sighed
With the coming of the rising tide
I sat in the sand with my hands held up to block out blinding light
When summer comes to town I don't feel right
Oh, how the sun beats down and the leaves burn brown
Oh, she is only proud when they're all dried out
I knew of her a while ago through a friend
Who said to me "don't get too close,
She will burn you just like a piece of toast!"
So I tried to keep my distance from the furnace, from her fire
To avoid what was sure to be an ill-fated desire
Oh, how the sun beats down and the leaves burn brown
Oh, she is only proud when they're all dried out
Still I wanted to hold her despite what he said
I wasn't thinking clearly, wasn't using my head
I held on to summer, her skin glowing red
But I held on too long and she burned me
I held on too long and she burned me
Oh, how the sun beats down and the leaves burn brown
Oh, she is only proud when they're all dried out

Fall
07:30
|
|||
Gone and done, summer blues
I hardly regret that they left so soon
Fall's coming around the bend
Talk about a woman who can brighten the light in the darkest room
Soon, all will be right again
See a flock of birds on high
Heading north for the warmth in the blood red sky
Feel the cooling of the air
Trees bid their leaves goodbye
As they float to the ground, and the piles rise
Brittle branches, thin and bare
She Acts like water to the fire
Works all day and doesn't tire
Knows that winter isn't far away
Helps us stand and not surrender
Bitter winds in cold December
Fall is like a lighthouse in a storm
Guiding all the ships back to port
Little tune on her lips
Birds that have stayed chirp and add to the mix
Wind breathes through the evergreens
Orange hues and fallen sticks
Candlelight burning right down to their wicks
Light breeze growing cold and mean
She Acts like water to the fire
Works all day and doesn't tire
Knows that winter isn't far away
Helps us stand and not surrender
Bitter winds in cold December
Fall is like a lighthouse in a storm
Guiding all the ships back to port
Lullaby autumn nights
Winter has only but just arrived
Fall is traveling down the road
Little tear from her eye
Falls to the ground and is turned into ice
Somewhere close there's fading warmth
She's been called to help it go
